"The Window - EP" is an extended snapshot from the full-length concept album "How I Defeated the Darkness". Composed between 2013 and 2014, "How I Defeated the Darkness" focusses on the pain of heartbreak, the journey of recovery, and the joy of sharing the fruit of that journey with others.
The EP's titular song was the first song written for the album, and I was inspired to write it after my sister had attempted suicide. It has been a long journey since then, and I'm happy to say that my sister is in a much better place now. The fact remains though that many young women feel an overwhelming push from society to live up to impossible standards. As an artist, it is part of my job to break down these expectations.
